This doc will run you through the necessary steps you need to follow in order to create the live chat code and install it via Google Tag Manager (GTM).

1. Code Creation Via Master CDN

2. Installing the live chat code via Google Tag Manager (GTM)

1. Code Creation Via Master CDN

Step 1: Head over to https://cdn.commversion.com/ where you’ll find the MasterCDN admin center. This is where you create the chat code for clients

You can use the following credentials if you don’t have a login:

Username: noor.saba@commversion.com

Password: 0.5fbd3y

Step 2: Click the “ADD ACCOUNT” which can be found in the top right corner

Step 3: You should be presented with a pop-up box asking you to enter an Account name, LiveChat license number & LiveChat Group Number. Go ahead and fill this in, once done hit the create button.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • For ‘Account name’ we recommend using the live chat group name found within LC as the account name. Use ‘_’ instead of ‘-’ and avoid the use of uppercase letters and spaces. USE OF HYPHENS, SPACES AND UPPERCASE LETTERS WILL RESULT IN ERRORS

  • For the LiveChat license, you should be presented by a drop-down. If created code for a license not listed please reach out to the tech team who can add the license to the drop-down

  • Refer to the LiveChat platform to find the client’s group number.

Step 4: Once created, the client should be visible in the list of accounts. Use the search field in the top left corner to find the client, click on their name, and then click the ‘Edit’ button the panel that appears on the right-hand side.

Step 5: Step 5 should take you to the edit page for the account.

Here is where you can ensure all the necessary settings are in place.

Start off by disabling dev mode (the second toggle from the top). Then scroll down and ensure all the relevant scripts needed have been added. You can see a list of all the scripts we have at our disposal and what they do here:

This page is also where you can configure tools such as GA integration, Show/Hide, and Geoblocking. Here are links to their respective How-Tos:

Step 6: Once you’ve confirmed all looks good, go back to the account list, find the client and click their name. You should see the side panel appear again. You can now copy the ‘Installation Snippet’ and implement it onto the client’s site.

2. Code Deployment Via Google Tag Manager (GTM)

This section will walk you through step by step how to install the CDN code onto a client’s site via GTM.

Step 1: Head over to https://tagmanager.google.com where you can access each GTM container shared with us by clients.

Step 2: Log into the correct account (e.g. clients@) and find the client’s account from the list of accounts - use CMD + F (for Macs) or CTRL + F (for PC) to search for the client if lost in the list.

Step 3: Once you’ve clicked on the client’s GTM container you should be taken to the overview page. From there click on “Tags” which you’ll find on the left and hide the screen

Step 4: Here is where you can see all the code snippets currently live on the client’s site. At this point, we’ll need to create a new tag to publish our chat code. Hit the ‘New’ button the at the top of the list you’ll see a panel appear.

Step 5: At the top of the panel rename the tag to something easily identifiable - such as ‘Commversion Chat Code’

Step 6: Select Tag Configuration and choose Custom HTML.

Step 7: Copy and paste the CDN code from the MasterCDN into the HTML tab.

Step 8: Move on to Triggering and select All Pages.

Step 9: Save the configuration to finish the code installation

Step 10: Submit and then publish the changes you’ve made on GTM to finalize the
